Meet The Team
Alan Curtis has been practicing in Personal injuries, medical negligence and civil litigation since 1992. He set up the solicitors practice in 1997 having previously specialised in this area over his working career. Alan has conducted both High Court and County Court litigation involving complex and high value cases. He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and has over 20 years experience in his specialist field. He enjoys travelling, reading, cooking, bee keeping and keeping fit. He has been married since 1995 and has two daughters Gemma and Sophie.
Has worked at Curtis Legal for 7 years as the Accounts Manager – She has worked in Legal Accounts since she left school at the age of 18, which is a very long time ago! She has three grown up children and enjoys walking and socialising and plays darts with a local ladies team. She has considerable experience of solicitors accounts having worked in this specialist field all her adult life.
Graduated in Modern History and Politics at and then converted to law qualifying as a barrister and then cross qualifying as a solicitor. For the last 10 years has worked for Curtis Legal undertaking personal injury claims for clients often with life changing injuries. His interests include cricket and history.
Jonathan gained a 2:1 LLB (Hons) Degree before joining Curtis Legal Ltd in 2002. Jonathan specialises in all areas of personal injury work in particular MOJ fast track road traffic accidents, EL/PL and multi-track cases including the settlement of cases in excess of £500,000.00. Jonathan enjoys relaxing with his family, kept busy by his two year old daughter. He is an avid follower of Crosskeys rfc and Wales. He enjoys travelling and mountain walking having recently completed the Welsh 3 Peaks Mountain Walk in aid of Charity.
Julia entered the insurance industry following her “A” Levels and has 12 year’s experience in this field. She then worked in Hertfordshire for a Scandinavian Seafood Company, organising the distribution of their products throughout the UK. A spell working in the Exhibition Industry in London followed before joining Curtis Legal in 2008. She is now the Administrator for the Clinical Negligence team, assisting the team of Solicitors, and is generally the initial point of contact for clients. Julia plays Quoits for her local pub in The Forest of Dean and regularly compiles quizzes. She is an avid sports fan, following Gloucester Rugby and Arsenal FC, and enjoys hiking.
Laura gained a 2:1 LLB (hons) degree and completed the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University. She joined Curtis Legal Ltd in 2005 and qualified as a solicitor in 2009. Laura specialises in clinical negligence and medical product liability matters. Laura is married and has recently celebrated the birth of her first child.
Richard Lord is a Chartered Legal Executive with more than 28 years litigation experience nearly all spent in the field of personal injury. He has worked in the in-house legal departments of a trade union and an insurance company as well as private practice. He has specialised in motor accident claims for a number of years. Richard supports Brighton & Hove Albion so knows all about persistence and perseverance. He would indulge his hobby of photography but spends most of his spare time as a taxi driver for teenage twins.
Sarah Handy completed an LLB (Hons) degree in Law at Aberystwyth University and thereafter went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff Law School. Sarah qualified as a Legal Executive Lawyer in February 2013 (FCilex). Sarah joined Curtis Legal in July 2008 and specialises in all types of Personal Injury Work. This includes road traffic accidents, slips and trip, accidents at work and multi track cases. Sarah is committed to providing a friendly yet professional service to all her clients. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys travelling, going to the cinema, relaxing with friends and reading. Sarah is also a fluent Welsh speaker.
Simon qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and became a partner with Alan Curtis in 2001. Simon is a Director of Curtis Legal and has a background of general practice. Simon has over 20 years experience in legal practice and has a broad knowledge of legal matters. He is head of the probate team and works closely with other team members in the other areas of practice. He is married with two children and enjoys swimming, cycling, skiing and spending time enjoying watersports with his family.
Stella completed her law degree at UWE, Bristol and worked then as a Paralegal whilst studying the LPC part time. She completed her training Contract and qualified in 2008. She has considerable experience in personal injury, clinical negligence and family Law. During her seat in family law she was involved with a TOLATA case in the Court of appeal and attended the final hearing where the Firm was successful in their appeal. The Case was reported in the Law Gazette. In her spare time she is a member of a local fitness group and enjoys walking in the Brecon beacons. She is married with a 6 year old Son and a bearded dragon named Stanley.
Wayne joined Curtis Legal Ltd in June 2007 after spending 4 years as a section manager in the Recoveries department of Eversheds LLP and whilst undertaking his legal executive course. He qualified as a fellow of ILEX in June 2009, then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University in June 2012 and subsequently qualify as a solicitor in December 2012. Wayne specialises in personal injury, clinical negligence and medical product liability matters. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially camping trips and watching his 2 sons participate in their numerous sporting activities. Wayne also enjoys music, reading and is a follower of most sports and has a particular passion for Newport County FC.
